Kennette Blotzer purchased Something To Crow About (STCA) in September 2002 from Joan Karagavoorian who retired.  Kennette had worked and taught classes in the store for three years prior to becomng the owner.  Her business philosophy is that STCA is a full service quilt shop and the staff is empowered to do whatever is needed to satisfy the customer.  Customer service is a priority and the staff works very hard to make sure that the customers feel it when they walk in the door or greeted on the phone.

STCA has seven knowledgeable employees, many of whom are teachers and designers.  Some employees work one day a month, while others you'll see on a weekly basis.  Whoever is working provides quality service to our customers.

Our newsletter/class schedule is full of classes to tempt the beginning quilter as well as the experienced.  With over 30 classes per quarter, our customers can choose from beginning quilt classes, rug hooking classes, wool/wool-felt classes, paper-piecing classes and many more.

STCA is located in a small shopping complex not far from Interstate 5.  The shop moved into this location in 1994 with future expansion in 1998.  The original part of the shop is noted for the unusual brick and wood plank flooring (it was a flower shop).  A few blocks away are Springfield's antique stores and one other must-stop destination, Ruthe B's, houses a combination antique/lunch/tea shop that is a local legend.

The annual Sister's Outdoors Quilt Show, held the seond Saturday in July, draws many travelers that makes STCA a regualr stop on their journey.  With an inventory of over 3000 bolts to draw from, our employees goal is to provide a friendly atmosphere so our customers leave feeling inspired with their selections over the special projects they are working on.

We try to have a special event every month for those customers who need to spend some time away from their regular duties of life.  STCA sponsors a quilting retreat in January.  In July we have a Quilters Yard Sale.  Due to our large primitive and Thimbleberries following, STCA hosts Girl Gang and Thimbleberries Clubs once a month.

Our secondary focus features a very large inventory of wool and wool-felt as reflected in our class schedule.  Many of our staff are experienced in wool applique and rug hooking and share their enthusiasm with our customers.  We have a huge selection of flannel and Civil War fabrics and stitcheries featuring our local artist and original shop owner, Sweet Gatherings.

STCA is known, of course, for chicken and rooster fabrics along with Thimbleberries, plaids, flannel but the most distinguishing factor is our friendly and helpful staff.  We really try to help each individual with their particular need.  Our customers have even compared us to Cheers - Where Everybody Knows Your Name!!
